There are seven continents in the world: Antarctica, Asia, North America, Africa, Europe, Australia and South America. Not all geographers believe there are seven continents, which is due to the fact that they consider Europe and Asia to be a single continent that is called Eurasia

Each of the seven continents are unique, and are characterized by their younger geologically active areas and geologically stable regions. While continents, such as Asia and Europe, are part of the same landmass, they both have entirely different cultures, which is why many geographers consider each landmass to be its own continent. Each continent shares a border or borders with one or more of the world’s large oceans. For example, North America shares a border with the Arctic, Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
